Refund Policy

Last updated 27 September 2026 · Applies to zika.care and the Zika Care waitlist

In plain words

  • We don't take any money before launch. Joining the waitlist is free, and there's nothing to refund.
  • When we launch, the family pays monthly. The older person is never charged and never asked to pay.
  • No trial that quietly turns into a charge. You'll always be asked before the first payment.
  • Cancel whenever you like, with no fee. If we charge you by mistake, or the service didn't work for reasons on our side, we refund you.

This page sets out the policy we intend to launch with. The binding version will be in the service terms you receive before paying, and it will be at least this generous. Where local consumer law gives you more, you get more.

1. Before launch

Zika Care is not taking payments, deposits or pre-orders. If anyone asks you to pay to “secure a place”, it isn’t us — please tell us at safety@zika.care.

2. How billing will work

  • Prices will be set per country and charged in the payer’s currency.
  • Billing is monthly, in advance, to the family member who set up the service (the “sponsor”).
  • Plans differ only in how much conversation is included. Every plan includes every safety feature.
  • The older person is never charged, never asked for payment details, and never told the cost.
  • Errands such as groceries or a taxi are paid to the provider from the family’s own account, within limits the family sets. These are separate from the Zika Care subscription.

3. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time in your account or by writing to hello@zika.care. There’s no cancellation fee. The service continues to the end of the month you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.

Because a sudden stop can be distressing, the older person hears at least 14 days ahead, in plain words, and receives her archive. The emergency line stays open for a grace period at no charge.

4. When we refund

  • Charged in error — a duplicate charge, a charge after cancelling, the wrong amount: refunded in full.
  • Service not delivered — if scheduled calls didn’t happen for reasons on our side for more than a day in a billing month, we refund those days in proportion.
  • Language or feature not as described — if something we told you before paying turns out not to be available, you can cancel and get a full refund for that month.
  • Cooling-off — where local law gives you a right to cancel within a period after signing up, we honour it in full.

5. Errands and third-party purchases

Things bought through an errand — shopping, medicines, a taxi — are sold by the provider, not by us, and their refund terms apply. If an errand went wrong because Zika Care misunderstood what was asked, tell us and we’ll help put it right with the provider, and cover the cost where the mistake was ours.

6. How to ask

Write to hello@zika.care with the account email and what happened. We reply within two working days and refund to the original payment method, usually within 10 working days.

Too far away? Not from their phone.
